Why should I?

All citizens of member countries of the Europen Union are entitled to vote in Spain. The "illegal" land situation is a political issue. You cannot complain that you are not happy with a particular situation if you do not engage in the political process necessary to change it.

How to register

You have to put your name down on the censo electoral, but in most cases a sealed form will be sent to you by post for you to sign and return. If this is not the case, you can still put your name on the censo electoral by going along to your town hall with your passport and NIE number or residence card. This can be done at the same time as you register on the padrón, if you have not already done this. You will then be entitled to vote in the municipal elections.

Based on the 2007 local election experience you will need to confirm that you have been sucessfully recorded on the electoral register in the run up to the elections. Do not assume!
